Tips on How and Where to Buy Polycarbonate Sheet

Polycarbonate sheets are one type of ‘thermoplastic’ that is widely used throughout Australia and New Zealand. ‘Thermoplastic’ means that it is a type of plastic that can be heated to enable its shape to be changed while it’s softer then, once it’s cooled, it will retain that shape.

What you may know as Laserlite is actually a polycarbonate sheet.

The Many Advantages of Polycarbonate Sheet

Polycarbonate sheet can be used for many purposes where glass, corrugated tin or bricks might previously have been used, including for some types of roofing.

Being clear, it is ideal for where you don’t wish to block out natural light.

Being plastic, it is much lighter weight than corrugated tin, tiles or glass.

In comparison to glass, polycarbonate sheet can withstand 250 times more pressure than glass can and also doesn’t transmit heat the way glass does. This makes it ideal for buildings where some visibility is needed or desired, but where safety may be an issue – for example, where children are present and may crash into a glass panel.

Now that you know what polycarbonate sheet is and where it can be used, let’s look at factors you need to consider when you are looking to buy polycarbonate sheets.
