World Youth Skills Day is marked on 15 July every year by the United Nations and is a day to spread awareness about the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. It is a day to stand up against inequalities towards socio-economically backward youth and equip them with skills that will eventually help build their lives. World Youth Skills Day is a day to recognize the actuality that young women and girls, and boys from backward socio-economic strata receive insufficient opportunities for higher education and skill development. This notion needs to be changed in 21st century India in order to evolve into a nation much better than any other. A nation’s growth, development and evolution is seen through their literacy and employment rate, with that being said – India is not doing so great considering the number of uneducated children and unemployed youth. Vidya Chetana is an education NGO helping poor students complete their higher education in PUC(10+2), degree, engineering and medical fields through their scholarship programme. Vidya Chetana provides financial aid which helps the students to complete their schooling and higher education. The NGO aims to not just support education, but also help students by imparting a multitude of other employability skills required for a 21st century India.
