  • Roasted gram
  • Black pepper
  • Fennel seeds
  • Whole spices: cardamom pods, cloves and cinnamon sticks
  • Cashew nuts
  • Fresh curry leaves
  • Grated coconut
  • Small sized onions
  • Garlic

Ensure these ingredients are ready on your kitchen table, so you need not keep looking around for them when cooking.

Preparation process

  • Start by preparing the recipe masala. For this, grind roasted gram. Take a pan and roast some black pepper, fennel seeds, and whole spices. Add a few cashew nuts, fresh curry leaves, and grated coconut to the pan.
  • Transfer the roasted ingredients to a mixer bowl and chop some small-sized onions and garlic in it. Grind everything together, and your masala is ready.
  • To cook mutton keema, take another pan and add some oil. Add 250gms of mutton mince to it. Make sure the mince is of good quality and finely grated. Otherwise, it can affect the recipe’s taste.
  • Sautee the mutton mince in the pan for a few minutes. Cover the pan and let the meat cook on a low flame for some time.
  • If the mutton mince looks dry, consider adding some water to it. Cook until the mince looks juicy, and the excess water evaporates.
  • Add some turmeric and red chilli to the mince. Mix all ingredients well.
  • Now, add the recipe masala you have prepared to the mixture.
  • Cook all ingredients until they blend well.
  • Once cooked, transfer the mixture to a bowl.
  • To prepare mutton keema balls, keep the mixture, onions, and some cornflower handy.
  • Add onions to the mixture.
  • Now, take out some portion of the mixture and start making balls.
  • Use cornflower to cover gaps if you struggle to make balls initially.
  • If you wish to make mutton keema cheese balls, do not forget to stuff the keema balls with some grated cheese before covering them.
  • Use another pan and heat some oil in it. Drop keema ball pieces in it.
  • Deep fry the keema balls until they appear to be golden brown.
