It cannot be denied that one of the major specifications of a smartphone being looked out for users is a camera whether it’s rear or a FaceTime sensor. The old days have been gone when a single rear 8MP/13MP rear camera makes an entire place go desolate. The dual rear camera trend even now holding its position on a front seat of a smartphone. And while it’s still making around – flagship smartphones with tri-camera configuration are now evolving into a picture.

Scouting for a smartphone brand that is still not offering a dual rear camera in any of their smartphones is just like locating a needle in a haystack. Leave a dual camera configuration a step behind and move on as tri-camera smartphones have entered the scene and changed a whole dynamics. We’ve compiled a list of fast-growing triple camera smartphones – offered by notable smartphone brands that have pioneered a movement. Let’s take a look.

1: Huawei P20 Pro (Price $866-999) Buy

Huawei P20 Pro

Huawei’s most innovative smartphone of 2018 is, without a shadow of a doubt, Huawei P20 Pro with an exceptional feature – a triple camera configuration. The main 40MP ultra-wide sensor alongside a 20MP monochrome sensor which shoots black and white sensor helps with processing such as improving dynamic range and decreasing image noise. The 3rd sensor is an 8MP telephoto lens having a 3x “Zoom” letting users zoom into a scene without using a digital zoom.

You’ll see a shortcut in a camera app which helps you capture images amazingly fast by double-tapping a volume button even if your screen is off. Huawei also added a focus tracking function named 4D Predictive Focus which lets you capture a sharp image by locking on to a moving object.

The camera app is also equipped with numerous modes such as dedicated portrait mode, slow-motion mode, light painting mode, time-lapse mode and quite a few filters for you to choose from. Moreover, a monochrome mode which uses a 20MP sensor and a portrait mode has a 3D lighting feature similar to Apple’s iPhone X. Plentiful other Huawei P20 Pro highlights are related to a 6.1” AMOLED screen, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB ROM, and 24MP FaceTime sensor and 4000mAh non-removable battery.

2: Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 (Price $455) Buy

Samsung Galaxy A7 2018

If you’re in a search of Best Mobile Phone under $500 in 2018 sporting a triple rear camera, look no further. The highlight of Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 is a triple camera configuration – consists of a 24MP main sensor + 5MP depth sensor + 8MP ultra-wide sensor with an aperture of f/1.7 + f/2.2 + f/2.4 respectively. The camera app is backed by quite a few features including Panorama Pro, Live Focus, Beauty, Hyper-lapse Mode as well as Slow Motion.

You do get shortcuts for Quick Share and Bixby Vision which helps users send captured images to Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp right from a camera app. Unfortunately, Galaxy A7 2018 lacks an HDR Toggle and you’ll be needing to go into settings to control it.

The main 24MP sensor captures colors and details in a daylight whereas 8MP ultra-wide angle comes into play while trying to shoot landscapes.  Other Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 specifications include 24MP FaceTime sensor, 6” Super AMOLED screen, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB ROM, and 3300mAh non-removable battery.

3: Oppo RX17 Pro (Price $680-699) Buy

Oppo RX17 Pro

First and foremost, Oppo RX17 Pro is really a rocker smartphone after Oppo Find X. And a rear triple camera is making it now stand out from a competition. You get a solid 25MP FaceTime sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 on a notch whereas outback, you see a triple camera set up. The centerpiece of a back camera is a 12MP sensor and a secondary 20MP unit is of unclear benefits as it’s been for a few generations but RX17 Pro really shines when it comes to a 3rd camera is of bigger interest as it’s a TOF (Time-Of-Flight) camera lens.

Oppo has claimed that it holds lots more potential due to its unique properties. Also, enables reading a depth of the scene up to 5-meter distance accurately. One will also get detailed and bright images in complete darkness and it’s very accurate in measuring the distance between objects.

In RX17 Pro, Oppo added a Night Mode which we’ve already seen in Huawei P20 Pro. It’s superbly fast like OnePlus 6T and captures quite nice images. Other key highlights of Oppo RX17 Pro are related to 6.4-inches AMOLED screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Chipset, 8GB RAM, 128GB ROM, and 3700mAh non-removable battery.

4: LG V40 ThinQ (Price $900) Buy

LG V40 ThinQ

LG’s new triple camera system on LG V40 ThinQ is making it the most versatile camera LG has ever made. The main 12MP sensor with an optical image stabilization, a 12MP telephoto sensor – offering 2x optical zoom and a wide-angle 16MP lens with an aperture of f/1.5 + f/2.4 + f/1.9 respectively. Altogether, enabling users to go for a closer shot, swap to a wider one or stick with the main sensor with immediate effects. All this making V40 ThinQ’s camera fun to play around with creatively.

The V40 ThinQ captures colorful and well-detailed images with exquisite white balance most often. Online sources have claimed that most of the times photos look quite processed with lots of sharpening or simply oversaturation. For instance, the skies in some captured images look unnaturally blue.

Only a standard sensor delivers an awesome quality and low-light images. For example, in low-light, a standard sensor is more capable and match up against most expensive flagship devices such as iPhone Xs and Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The telephoto or wide-angle lens, however, decline the image quality. Other LG V40 ThinQ specifications include a combo of dual 8MP + 5MP front-facing cameras, 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM, 6.4-inches P-OLED screen and 3300mAh non-removable battery.

And here is where the story ends – These above 4 smartphones are now available on shelves in so many countries and users can get their hands on with immediate effects. But there’s always something new and better. Therefore, the longer you wait, the better your choice will be. Triple camera smartphones aside for a short while, if you’re looking for Future Smartphones of 2019, we’ve got you covered too.
